Week 4 of the singing course concentrated on “diphthongs” - that's the combination of pure vowels.

The lesson was taken by Regional faculty and chorus coach Valerie Taylor and using Frank Sinatra’s “My way” demonstrated how to, or not to, add the diphthongs!

We were then joined by Coastline Harmony as we split into sections for mini part rehearsal to help re-enforce all the notes and words that everyone had been learning. It was then back together for a complete sing through of both course songs, “Feeling Groovy” and “Fame”.

Next week’s lesson is all about “Consonants” and we will also start to concentrate on the performance element of barbershop including expression and choreography.

We are on target for our open evening on the 23^rd October when friends and family will be able to see for themselves the great progress our new singers have made in such a short time.

Coastline is fulfilling course attendees ambitions of learning to sing and is also allowing women to experience our great hobby and musical style.
