Mary had a little lamb Its fleece was white as snow... Week 5 of the singing course and our Choreographer Sally worked with us on how to tell a story as we sing. We used nursery rhymes for examples! She told everyone to imagine they were telling a story to a young child, or as she put it, "go all the way to blithering idiot"!!Sally also reinforced Becky's message about good posture and keeping the whole body relaxed during any performance. Singing is a whole body experience.
We were then joined by Coastline Harmony as we began to add the choreography, feeling and story to both course songs, “Feeling Groovy” and “Fame”. Next week we will continue to work on the performance element of barbershop and finish adding the choreography to "Fame"! Just two weeks to go now until our open evening on the 23rd October when friends and family will be able to see for themselves the great progress our new singers have made in such a short time. Coastline is fulfilling course attendees ambitions of learning to sing and is also allowing women to experience our great hobby and musical style. |
