A meeting held in 1973 by a small group of wives and girlfriends of male barbershop singers who decided they wanted to sing four-part harmony too was the start of the Chorus. A few meetings later, discussions about outfits, and in June 1973 a Chorus was formed calling themselves the
Sussex Harmonetts.
In 1977, now renamed The Brighton Ladies, the Chorus received their charter from Sweet Adelines at their International Convention at The Royal Albert Hall which was televised. In 1984, the name was changed, this time to Coastline Harmony Chorus, to represent those members who came from other local areas.
In 2007, we marked our 30th Anniversary on 6th October with a Dinner Dance attended by three founder members who we are proud to say are still singing with Coastline today – Jackie Collier, Pauline Wakeling and Valerie Paddock.
